4.6-Death

The Radke household had been nothing but good in the last few weeks. Kat was working and happy. All the kids were in school and doing very well. Liam, Natalie and Maddie were on the honor roll. Kat and Jackson could not be anymore proud then they were.

Liam finally told his parents about his girlfriend Kimberly. It was surprising for him though, that they were very happy for him, and made no jokes. That made it easier for him to invite her over to the house more often. Most of the time while she was over though, they would play outside. He just loved how different she was. In her house none of her family like technology so she did not even own a television or cellphones. Instead all she did was study, and she would talk to Liam about things he had never even heard of.

It was Liam’s birthday on the same night that Kimberly was over. He had asked his parents the night before if it was okay that they did not have a big party for him, that him and Kim could do it together. They agreed and Liam was excited. So Liam and Kim threw a quiet little party all their own.

Liam grew into the spitting image of his mother.

That next day, Liam invited Kim over and was surprised that she had her birthday also. She was so amazingly beautiful. He could not handle keeping his hands off of her. He finally got up the nerves and kissed her. She was just so amazing to him.
Right then and there he had to make them official, and asked her to be his girlfriend officially. She accepted and Liam wanted to jump for joy, instead he just kissed her more and more.

Liam was ready for high school, but a little concerned because he did not want Kim to find someone more attractive then himself. He really wanted to look his part, so the morning of his first day of school, he made sure his teeth were perfect and that he looked great. He was not losing this wonderful girl.

Evelynn passed away a month or so after Liam had started high school. Everyone was there to see her go, even her brother Franklin. She had a great life and was happy to go. She was old and tired of living. Kat though, she did not take it good.

Kat loved her mother so much, she was there for her when her father could not be and just losing her like that was just to hard for her to handle.

Jackson did his best to help Kat cope. He made her a picnic one day and tried to just talk to her about her mother, but she was just quiet. The thing that sucked was the Jackson had a party planned for a few nights after Evelynn passed away. He was going to raise some money for his work. Jackson did end up having the party and raised enough money for him to get a raise. He wanted to make sure that Kat was happy. He loved her and knew that she needed to be able to get out of the house, so Jackson surprised her with a brand new car. He had not seen Kat so happy in a long time. He also bought all the kids a bicycle so they could get around too.

After everything got back to normal, something happened that would change everybody’s lives. Liam was listening to music on the radio and he accidentally broke it, and he wanted to fix it before his parents found out, and got really upset at him. When Liam went to fix it, he had no experience fixing anything and he electrocuted himself. It was just a little shock but he decided to continue fixing the radio and it all went downhill from there. The radio shocked him from his arms down to his toes. It was so bad that the radio caught fire, and Liam was shocked even more. He could not let go, and continued to be electrocuted. Liam died, after just a few seconds more.

Kat heard some noise downstairs and went to investigate. She then smelled the fire and ran to her son. She saw him laying on the floor beside the radio. She grabbed the fire extinguisher and yelled for Jackson, he came downstairs and called the fire department while Kat tried to put the fire out by herself. They could not get to Liam while the fire was still burning.

By that time the girls had come downstairs because they heard all the noise. What they saw was not pretty though, Liam was dead. They instantly burst into tears.

Everybody was devastated…

Kat was just not herself. She would sleep in Liam’s bed, and just lay there for hours. After a few days she just did not feel like herself, she cut her hair the way she had it when she was a teenager. She just could not stop crying. Not that anyone in the house would expect her to stop.

Natalie and Maddie were starting to get along, they were bonding over their heartache for their brother. They would play outside together, but they would catch a glimpse of Liam’s grave in the yard, and just burst into tears.

The funeral for Liam was a few weeks after his death. They invited everyone that knew Liam. Kat put on her only black dress and some makeup but before anyone had even arrived her makeup was already running down her face. Kat’s brother’s Jacen and Isaac showed up and she was really glad to see them, Jacen was so upset that he was making a scene. Isaac was glad to let Kat cry on his shoulder.

Even Kat’s sister Melanie showed up and she had not seen her since she was a toddler. She really loved to see her, but she could not focus on that. She was at her son’s funeral and that was all that was on her mind.

After everyone left, Kat, Jackson and the girls went outside to give their respects to Liam.

This was just to much for the Radke’s to handle.
